ULTRASOUND THERAPY

Ultrasound therapy

Ultrasound therapy is used in physiotherapy for its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects on all joints.

It is a therapy based on the use of high-frequency sound waves (between 1 and 3 MHz) generated by the same method used for ultrasound imaging. When an electric current passes through the quartz crystals inside the transducer, they expand and compress continuously, producing a vibration that emits sound waves.

When the ultrasound waves penetrate the body, they transfer energy to the tissues they pass through, generating heat.

The vibrations and heat stimulate the reabsorption of inflammatory fluid and the elimination of substances responsible for pain.

Ultrasound therapy is indicated for inflammatory conditions affecting all areas of the spine and the upper and lower limbs.
