BAROPODOMETRIC EXAMINATION
The baropodometric examination is used not only in the orthopedic and rehabilitation fields but also in neurology, orthodontics, and the treatment of diabetic feet.
The baropodometric platform provides useful insights into foot morphology, gait biomechanics, and posture when the patient is standing. It is equipped with sensors capable of accurately detecting pressure changes between the foot surface and the ground.
The baropodometry
includes both static
and dynamic
assessments.
In the static exam, the pressure points on the foot are highlighted, along with how weight is distributed, the supporting surface of both feet, and the body’s centres of gravity.
Also in the static position, the computerized platform is used for stabilometry, which identifies issues related to posture.
The dynamic exam measures the biomechanics of the step, the duration of foot contact with the ground, and the points of contact and push during walking.
The baropodometric exam is supported by a wide range of figures, graphs, and projections that help specialists collect a wealth of data to facilitate or confirm a diagnosis.
The baropodometric platform can also be used for the creation of custom-made, highly precise insoles, especially when combined with 3D processing programs.
CUSTOM-MADE INSOLLES
A custom-made insole is a medical device created specifically for each patient, following the specialist indications of orthopedic doctors, physiatrists, and angiologists. Insoles can also be prescribed by podiatrists and posturologists.
The insole is a sole insert placed inside footwear and is made from different materials and in various shapes to better suit the user's professional or sports needs.
There are several types of insoles:
- Biomechanical insoles
- Proprioceptive insoles
- Phlebological insoles
- Paediatric insoles
- Curative or physiological orthopedic insoles
- Insoles based on plaster casts
Different materials and processes are used to create insoles, depending on the functionality they are meant to serve and the objectives they aim to achieve. The functions of an insole are many, including:
- Pain-relieving: providing anti-inflammatory effects to ease pain
- Corrective: correcting foot posture during development
- Biomechanical: restoring foot movement to the most physiologically correct condition possible
Insoles address various foot conditions:
- Metatarsalgia
- Plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, talalgia
- Hallux valgus or rigidus and hammer toes
- Cavus foot
- Flat foot – pronation syndrome
- Rheumatic, arthritic, painful foot of the elderly
- Diabetic, vascular neuropathic foot
- Paediatric foot
- Athlete’s foot
- Morton’s neuroma
The insoles produced at our centre are the result of thirty years of experience by our orthopedic technicians in dealing with foot and posture problems. Our passion and professionalism, combined with the use of the latest technologies and scientific discoveries, set us apart. The materials used are of high quality, CE certified, and have specific characteristics depending on the insole's functionality and the type of footwear used.
