SEXUAL COUNSELLING

Sexual counselling

Sexuality is a fundamental aspect of everyone's life and must be protected and respected. Sometimes, for various reasons, people experience discomfort or even real problems in living their sexuality, without being able to clearly identify the problem.
Even in the absence of major disorders, there are many times in a person's life when sexuality can present difficulties, such as adolescence, illness, menopause, stressful periods, pregnancy, and postpartum.
According to the WHO, sexual counselling is "a supportive activity that helps individuals in difficulty assimilate their knowledge and transform it into satisfying lifestyles and responsible behaviours."
Who it is aimed at:
  • Those who feel confusion, difficulty, or anxiety regarding sexuality.
  • Those undergoing medical or surgical treatment for organic conditions, to support the individual and the couple.
  • Anyone who desires it, since sexual well-being should be considered an integral part of overall well-being.
Sessions can be attended individually or as a couple, and the number of sessions can vary. The consultation itself can be conclusive, helping individuals gain greater awareness and accurate information. Sometimes, it may be necessary to start a proper therapy, which will differ depending on the case, to identify a strategy that leads to overcoming the issue.
