  • Editor for The Lancet Italian Edition from 1983 to 1996.

  • Member of the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology since 1997.
  • Founding member of AAITO, the Association of Territorial and Hospital Allergologists and Immunologists, of which he has been a member since 2002 and is currently Vice-President.
  • Associate Editor of European Annals of Allergy and Clinical Immunology since 2005. Editor in Chief of the same journal since 2009.
  • Author of over 270 scientific publications in leading international journals in allergology and immunology.
  • Reviewer for the most prestigious global allergology journals (The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology; Allergy; Clinical and Experimental Allergy; Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology; International Archives of Allergy and Immunology; etc.).
  • Participated in international multicentre and multidisciplinary research projects by the European Commission SAFE (1999-2003) and EUROPREVALL (2005-2009) on food allergies.
  • Currently a reviewer for the European multicentric FAST study on fish allergy-specific immunotherapy, and a member of the International Steering Committee for the CURE (Chronic Urticaria Registry) study.
  • Member of the International Boards for the extension of Guidelines for the diagnosis and therapy of NSAID hypersensitivity of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
  • Co-author of position papers by the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology on IgG4 in food allergy, cross-reactivity between respiratory and food allergens, chronic autoimmune urticaria, and the consensus report on the intradermal test with autologous serum in the diagnosis of chronic urticaria.
