Acupuncture
is a therapeutic practice that has been part of traditional Chinese medicine for over 5,000 years and is now widely recognised in the Western world. This healing method involves the insertion of very fine needles into the skin at various points on the body.
These points (which correspond to an organ, a system, or more often a function) are generally located along the course of lines called meridians, which are actual energy channels. The aim is to rebalance the body's energy state
to allow the flow of vital energy and thus restore the health of both the body and the mind, based on the assumption that a lack of this balance causes disorders and illnesses.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has recognised acupuncture’s ability to treat very common disorders such as arthritis, insomnia, headaches, and all joint and muscle conditions (cervical pain, lower back pain, and other pains).
Acupuncture is a strictly medical procedure, not so much because of the risks the treatment entails, but due to the knowledge and training that practitioners must possess.
